Speeders targeted

DOZENS of drivers were caught out by police in Wirral during a “spotlight day” targeting speeding motorists.

During the course of the operation 57 fixed penalty notices were issued to drivers for speeding.

A number of drivers were summonsed for offences including driving at 55mph in a 30mph limit area, speeding and driving without insurance and using a mobile phone.

Neighbourhood Inspector Kate Cunningham said these types of operations “send out a strong message to people using our roads”.

She added: “If you are speeding, driving without insurance, using a mobile phone or driving a taxi that is not fit for the road – we will target you and you will be dealt with accordingly.
