Liverpool eco-friendly festival cancelled

LIVERPOOL’S first eco-friendly music festival has been cancelled after organisers feared it “would not live up to expectations”.

The Livefest festi-val, planned to feature a day of local and inter-national talent, was shelved last night after being forced to move from an out-door venue to a smaller indoor location.

The day-long two-stage family event headlined by Alaba-ma 3, Shack, and Hayseed Dixie, was originally to take place at Aigburth Cricket Ground next Saturday (August 11).

Last week it was announced it was to move to Liverpool University’s Mount-ford Hall following weeks of torrential rain creating signi-ficant health and safety fears on the cricket pitch.

The swap cut cap-acity from 10,000 to 3,000 and reduced ticket prices.

Livefest coordin-ator Sarah Davidson said that festival directors had been “forced” to make the decision.

She said: “This is due to the cost of moving the event and the decrease in venue size no longer making the event financially viable.

“This in turn has affected the event’s ability to host features such as the real ale fair and other attractions, and the team feel the festival would not have lived up to the expectations that had been created.

“The Livefest team would like to thank everyone who has helped in the planning and offered editorial support of the event across all mediums – your support has been greatly appreciated.”

Anyone who has tickets can receive a full refund by contacting the ticket agency through which the tickets were bought.
