Food for thought as photo contest focuses on family

FAMILIES in Liverpool are being offered the chance to become works of art.

Organisers of next month’s Food Lovers festival are appealing for photographs of Liverpool-based families sharing a meal together for an art exhibition at the Albert Dock.

The idea for the exhibition comes from the iconic Liverpool sitcom Bread.

In the TV series, the Boswells spent their time eating, talking and deliberating around the kitchen table.

Finalists in the competition will be chosen by a celebrity photographer and winners will attend a gala opening evening on September 8 to unveil the photographs.

Sue Nelson, chief executive of North West Fine Food and organisers of the festival, said: “Liverpool is a city that always has and always will value family meal times.

“We want to celebrate this and make it an integral part of the festival, as it will express the cultural heritage of the city. We are offering the chance to make families famous by appearing in the exhibition.

“Therefore, we are hoping that the people of Liverpool will inundate us with their own photographs.”

The two-week festival is the biggest celebration of food and drink to be held in the city.

Anybody wishing to enter should send digital images to artonaplate @brazenpr.com

The closing date for competition entries is August 20.
