HALF of the apartments in one of Liverpool’s most stunning residential blocks have been sold, more than 16 months before the buyers can move in.
And all but one of the £400,000 three-bedroomed apartments have been snapped up by wealthy business people planning to live with their families in the heart of the city.
The success of the flagship homes development along waterfront Strand was last night hailed as a sign of confidence in the £1bn Grosvenor redevelopment.
326 apartments in Grosvenor’s One Park West, the Paradise Project’s biggest resident scheme, are being built in a block designed by world- famous architect Cesar Pelli.
The US-based design guru was architect for the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur.
Of the half already sold, just one of the 13 three-bedroom apartments is now available for sale.
Last night Martyn Green from King Sturge said: “We are delighted with the high levels of sales already achieved at One Park West. I took our staff onto the site this week and the views of the Albert Dock and waterfront are breathtaking. We always envisaged amazing interest in this address and that has proved to be the case.”
As the opening date for One Park West in 2009 draws closer, interest from buyers is expected to intensify.
One Park West is the largest residential building within the Grosvenor Project, with one side overlooking the Strand and the other Chavasse Park.
The 17-storey building was originally scheduled to be taller, but following talks with heritage agencies, the height was reduced to ensure it did not conflict with the World Heritage Site.
A milestone in the construction of the towers has been reached, with the first glazed panels added to the structure.
Laing O'Rourke, the contractor working on One Park West, is using unitised glass cladding manufactured by GIG in Austria.
The glass sizes vary on each tower, with the largest measuring 2.4m by 3m.
One Park West has a newly launched website at www.oneparkwest.co.uk which has a fly-through facility enabling visitors to ‘walk’ through a typical studio, one, two and three-bed apartment type.
The Pelli team, which has worked with Grosvenor from the outset on the Paradise Project masterplan, has designed One Park West in partnership with Liverpool-based architects Brock Carmichael Associates.
