Star reveals origins of robot dance - now reserved for special occasions

LIVERPOOL footballer Peter Crouch revealed the origins of his famous robot dance at the weekend.

It began as part of a light-hearted pact with team-mate Jamie Carragher, who saw him do it at one of David Beckham’s charity balls and made him promise on camera he would do it the next time he scored.

Crouch’s fate was sealed when Prince William asked him to reprise the dance, which was then seen all over the world.

The striker says he had been “messing about” with robotics since he was a kid.

He said: “I feel like Ricky Gervais must with everyone going ‘Go on, do the Brent dance’.

“From now on, special occasions only. If I score a goal in the Champions League final, then I’ll pull it out again.”

He revealed all in an interview with a Sunday paper this weekend in which he also discussed his career and relationship with model Abigail Clancey.

The majority of Liverpool people are “top class” according to Crouch, who says that signing for LFC was one of the greatest moments of his life.

But he insists Miss Clancey is no WAG, declaring that the “Wives and Girlfriends” scene can be “embarrassing at times”.

He said: “I don’t think many of the players want to be associated with it.

“We’re footballers and they’re players’ wives, and that’s the way it should stay.”
