Special cheese is brewing nicely for hotel’s festival celebration
LIVERPOOL’S Cains Brewery and Malmaison hotel will unveil a special beer-soaked cheese as part of the Wirral Food and Drink Festival.
The raisin beer Lancashire cheese, named the Cains Festival Cheese, has been maturing and will be tasted by the public for the first time at the Malmaison at a lunch featuring local produce.
The planned menu is roasted baby beetroot, watercress and goat cheese salad with a hazelnut dressing, followed by loin of rare breed pork, black pudding and raisin compote with a wild mushroom cream sauce. There will also be a vegetarian option.
Each guest will then take away some of the new Cains Festival Cheese and they will be among the first people on Merseyside to try it.
Head chef Mark Bennett said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Wirral Food and Drink Festival and give people the opportunity to try this new cheese.”
The Wirral Food and Drink Festival takes place on Sunday, August 26, 10am to 5pm and Monday, August 27, 10am to 4pm. Check it out on www.wirralfoodfestival.co.uk
THE lunch costs £19.50 per person and will take place on Thursday, August 24, from 12.30pm. For tickets, contact James on 0151 229 5050.
