Witness plea over club attack

A 24-YEAR-OLD “Good Samaritan” was left with a broken nose and needing 28 stitches to his neck after being attacked by two men in an Ellesmere Port nightclub.

The man was set upon by two others at the Destiny & Elite club during the early hours while the club remained busy.

But police have renewed their appeal for witnesses after saying they have been disappointed with previous calls for witnesses to come forward.

They described the incident as “an extremely serious assault” which took place around 2.50am on Saturday, July 28.

According to Cheshire police, the victim, who is from Ellesmere Port, was attacked after helping a stranger who had also been assaulted.

The attack happened near washbasins in the Destiny section of the club when one man punched the victim in the face, breaking his nose.

A police spokesman said: “When the victim pushed him away, a second offender hit him with a bottle.”

The bottle smashed when it hit the victim’s temple and cut his neck which later required 28 stitches.

Two 18-year-old men, one from Great Sutton and another from Ellesmere Port, have been arrested and released on police bail.
