New police plea over van death blast

A NEW appeal has been made for information over the death of a man whose van exploded after he was tailed by police.

Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who has information about 42-year-old Terry Langrell’s whereabouts between the last time his family saw him on March 12 and his death in the early hours of last Thursday.

The former driving instructor from Wirral died as a result of the burns he received when his van caught fire in St James’ Place, Toxteth.

Five police officers were injured during the incident. One is back on duty, another is recovering at home and three others remain in hospital.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the white Ford Transit van which Mr Langrell was driving on the night of the incident. The van has the registration R509 KWR.

Officers are particularly keen to talk to a woman who was in Mr Langrell’s company when he went to buy the van on March 9 in Bootle.
