A 750ft leap for charity – just like James Bond

A DARING fundraiser from Wirral is preparing for the leap of a lifetime – with the world’s largest bungee jump.

Keen climber and golfer Jack Jones, from Hoylake, decided to make the leap for the Hoylake Cottage Appeal, to raise money for new day-care facilities for older people.

He will jump off the top of the 750ft-high Verzasca Dam in Switzerland on September 8, wearing evening dress.

The 24 year-old from Melrose Avenue, in Hoylake, will be dressed as James Bond in the Verzasca Dam leap featured in the opening sequence of Bond movie Golden Eye.

Mr Jones said: “I got the idea from an article in a men’s magazine about 20 things to do this summer and this was the most extreme of the ideas.

“At the same time, I had been thinking about doing something to raise money for Hoylake Cottage because it’s such a good cause.”

He has never before attempted a bungee jump: “I thought that if I am going to do a bungee jump, I may as well do the biggest in the world,” he said.

Anyone who wishes to sponsor him should call Hoylake Cottage fundraiser Jen Ling on 07818 058077 or email jling@hoylake cottage.co.uk
