Nine teens arrested over fatal 'street beating'

A MURDER inquiry has been launched in Warrington after a 57-year-old man died following a street beating.

Police said the man was attacked by a gang of youths in Station Road North at about 10.45pm on Friday and was later taken to Warrington General Hospital.

His injuries were described as “life threatening” at the time and he died from his injuries earlier today.

Nine youths, aged between 15 and 19-years-old, were being questioned by police after being arrested.

Originally eight were arrested but a further arrest was made as the investigation continued.

Investigators said that no weapons were believed to have been used in the crime.
