Tanya Gerasinenko and David Binnar celebrate their A level success at Liverpool College _320
A GIRLFRIEND and boyfriend have won places at Cambridge University after both achieving five As at A level.
Liverpool College students Tania Gerasimenko from Woolton and David Dinnar from Prescot will be studying medicine and engineering respectively.
Tania, who was born in the Ukraine but moved to England when she was four, said: “I have been terrified, I really thought I had messed up a chemistry exam and that I would not get in, I was so upset when it finished.
“I am really excited and glad we both got our places, so is David.
“I have wanted to study medicine for a long time.”
Tania, who will go to New Hall College, Cambridge in September, gained five As in physics, maths, chemistry, biology and Russian, which she has spoken since childhood but didn’t have to study.
She added: “I just took the Russian exam without lessons – because I still speak it at home. The other exams needed a lot more work”.
Boyfriend David achieved five As in biology, maths, further maths, physics and Latin and he will study engineering.
