A MAN was stabbed in the groin in a packed pub on Saturday night.
The 37-year-old victim from Rainhill was last night recovering in hospital after being attacked in the Horseshoe on Windy Arbor Road in Whiston at about 9.20pm.
Eight police cars and an ambulance arrived on the scene and all customers were kept inside the pub to give statements.
One told the Daily Post last night: “He was stood drinking and someone came in. They went straight over to him and stabbed him in the leg. They went after him.
“He staggered behind the bar and was bleeding badly.
“It seemed to take ages for the ambulance to arrive. Eight police cars turned up and the pub was shut so everyone could be kept behind. We all had to have our pictures taken and give statements.”
Police are appealing for anyone who has not yet made a statement to come forward.
They would also like to speak to anyone who saw a man leave the area in a hurry at the time of the incident.
