Use sports facilities, Kirkby residents told

KIRKBY residents are being urged to use other sports spaces throughout Knowsley for the next two weeks before the new £12m sports and leisure centre opens.

The old Kirkby Sports centre and Ruffwood pool are now closed so staff can be trained and equipment delivered to the new facility.

During this trans-itional period, the nearest pools are at Scotchbarn in Prescot or Huyton and Halewood leisure centres.

The nearest Active Gym is Heatwaves in Stockbridge Village. Gyms are also available at Scotchbarn, Huyton and Halewood leisure centres.

From next Monday, Kirkby residents can take advantage of a preview week at the new sports and leisure centre.

They will be able to see the many facilities on offer which include a large pool, learner pool, sports hall and fitness gym. There are also two multi-purpose halls for activities such as martial arts and aerobics.

Cllr Eddie Connor said: “We hope residents will work with us and enjoy the fantastic new £12m leisure centre when it opens later in the month.”
