Residents oppose bar hours

A NEW brasserie in Crosby village faces opposition to its bid for a late license to sell alcohol and play music.

Pioneer bar and brasserie in Liverpool Road has applied for a premises licence until 1.30am on week nights and 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Owners David Cairns and Ian Parry, who has owned the Fruit Salad in Crosby village for more than 20 years, expect to open the Liverpool Road venue at the beginning of October.

But 28 residents in Fairholme Road and Liverpool Road signed a petition against the licence application.

Fairholme Residents’ Committee say they fear late opening hours could cause a potential nusiance.

Mr Cairns said: “From the outset, we aim to have no televisions, hence no Sky Sports and no football. There will be no loud, live music, just soft background music.”

The owners want to serve lunches, and open as a brasserie in the evening, serving late night refreshments from 11pm.

A decision will be made by the licensing sub committee on Thursday, September 13.
