Yobs face bans from pubs

TROUBLEMAKERS are to be banned from drinking in north Liverpool pubs.

A new Pub Watch scheme is being launched today with around 50 licensees from Old Swan, Tuebrook, Wavertree and Anfield already signed up.

It will be the third Pub Watch to be launched by Liverpool Chamber of Commerce following successful programmes in the city centre and Walton and Kirkdale.

The scheme has a “banned from one, banned from all” rule so people who cause trouble in one pub will find themselves unable to get a pint in any of the member pubs.

Joe Curran, Liverpool’s night time economy manager, said: “The Pub Watch initiative has been received across the UK as a positive way of addressing issues faced by the licensing trade on a daily basis.”

Superintendent Steve Ashley said: “ The scheme will provide a way for the police and other agencies to support licensees and will be invaluable in providing advice and support in improving public safety and reducing crime and disorder.”
