400 attend Green Party’s conference

AROUND 400 delegates are to attend the Green Party’s national autumn conference in Liverpool today.

The four-day event, at Liver-pool Hope University’s Everton campus, will include climate change, women in politics, and urban regeneration.

Liverpool Green Party Councillor John Coyne said high up on the agenda would be a discussion on why Liverpool needs a ‘green vision’ to become a sustainable city.

Events today will start with a panel discussion, Culture and Regeneration in Liverpool, with Cllr Coyne and Stuart Wilks, a lecturer in Social Policy at Liverpool University.

Topics include the regeneration of Liverpool, the controversial pathfinder hous-ing policy, and tensions between economic growth and ongoing social inequality.

Tomorrow, principal speak-er Sian Berry, the Greens’ London Mayoral Candidate, will discuss the need for action on climate change and introduce the party's target candidates for the next general election.
