A FAMILY of four were rescued after becoming stranded on an island off Wirral yesterday.
The mother, grandmother and two children from Tarporley in Cheshire had set out to visit Hilbre Island off West Kirby.
But a rapidly-rising spring tide left them and their three labradors trapped on Little Eye, the smaller of the two islands, and they used a mobile phone to contact the police.
They were picked up safe and well by the Hoylake lifeboat which had been called in by Liverpool coastguard.
