JLA voted nation’s best airport

LIVERPOOL John Lennon Airport has been named as the nation’s best airport.

JLA fought off stiff competition to become UK Airport of the Year after it was shortlisted against Manchester, Birmingham, East Midlands, London Luton and Bristol airports.

The airport was awarded the title at the annual Travel Trade Gazette (TTG) awards night in London.

It had been judged on passenger and airline growth, improvements to public transport access, environmental initiatives and work with the local comm-unity by a panel of industry experts.

Neil Pakey, JLA’s managing director, said: “To win the industry’s most prestigious award is a recognition of both our belief in turning the airport into a real regional gateway and to the employees and businesses who work to turn the investment into a real experience.”
