Oil rig evacuated

THE crew of a Cumbrian oil rig has been evacuated by Liverpool Coastguard.

The rig ‘Lisa’ is part of the Robin Rigg Wind Farm in the Solway Firth.

All 38 crew members were taken to standby vessels and the rig’s crane driver was winched to safety by a rescue helicopter.

The jack-up rig developed a 30-degree list after a leg punched through the seabed.
