SIX people have been hurt in a crash involving a BMW and Fiesta on the M62.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene to help cut a 20-year-old woman trapped in the BMW from the wreckage.
She suffered serious injuries and was taken to Whiston Hospital in Prescot.
The others, a 20-year-old man and woman in the BMW and three Polish men travelling in the Fiesta, who suffered minor injuries, were treated at the scene.
Police temporarily closed the motorway at Junction seven at Tarbock Island following the collision.
In a separate incident, a passenger received serious injuries when he was thrown from a vehicle after it hit a crash barrier on the M62.
The emergency services were called to Junction 11 on the eastbound carriageway, near Birchwood, Warrington, after a hatchback overturned and was struck by another vehicle.
The man driving the vehicle was also serious injured.
Both casualties were taken to hospital.
The motorway was closed for several hours.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash, especially anyone in a white limousine that stopped at the scene.
