LIVERPOOL MP Peter Kilfoyle, who is half- way through a 140-mile trek across Nicaragua, has reported he has already got blisters.

The former defence minister is completing the walk to raise money for the British Heart Foundation and the Peace and Hope Trust in Nicaragua after suffering a heart attack.

Mr Kilfoyle started his journey on Saturday and is due to complete the walk next Friday.

He told supporters: “The first few days have been very hot, and I’ve already got blisters.”

He said he had been pleased to meet a fellow Liverpudlian, Armando Mena, from Aigburth, near a volcanic island at Lake Nicaragua.
