Stand-up comics show how to put laughter factor into public speaking

COMEDIANS offered tips on public speaking to businessmen and women as St Helens Comedy Week festival continued yesterday.

Formby stand-up act Brendan Riley was among those running workshops – inspired by his experiences on stage – for members of St Helens Chamber of Commerce.

The aim was to improve confidence in public speaking by demonstrating how comedians deal with nerves and hecklers.

The annual Comedy Week began on Monday and finishes on Sunday with a show from Father Ted and My Hero actor Ardal O’Hanlon at the Theatre Royal.

Justin Moorhouse brings his show Who’s the Daddy to the Citadel Arts Centre venue today while Phoenix Nights star Dave Spikey, plays the Theatre Royal on Saturday.
