Baby Zack
TOYS and gifts have flooded into Liverpool Women’s Hospital for a new-born baby who was abandoned in a Liverpool garden.
The baby boy, named Zack by hospital staff, is doing well after being found in a garden on Delagoa Road, Fazakerley, on Thursday evening.
Trish Dunmore, Liverpool Women’s Hospital Directorate Manager of Neonates said: “He is coming on a treat, he is feeding extremely well and is getting into a nice routine.
“Members of the public and the nursing staff have brought him lots of presents, including toys; he is a very special baby.
“We would be delighted if his mum came forward, he is a brilliant baby, anybody would be pleased to have him.
“She needs to know that we will not judge her, everyone will give her the support she needs.
“Zack is very well but she might not be and people will help her through it.
“We will look after him until a solution is found, it is not really up to us what happens now but we are used to taking care of babies without the mother there, some times women get ill or have difficulties giving birth and have to recover.”
Weighing 8lb 10oz, Zack was believed to be just hours old when he was found, and his umbilical cord was still attached.
He had been wrapped in towels and placed inside a bag.
Merseyside Police have now passed on the case to social services.
Superintendent Colin Leeman appealed for the mother to come forward: “Obviously we are also concerned for the well-being of his mother.
“Clearly, this little boy needs his mum.”
