Police link bag snatch robberies

A WOMAN was attacked and had her handbag stolen as she walked along a road in Ellesmere Port.

The robbery took place around 4.30pm on Sunday, September 23, on Ashfield Road.

Police say the victim was approached by a man who tried to pull her bag from her shoulder.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “She resisted and the offender put both arms around her and pulled the bag away from her. Eventually she let go of the bag and the man ran off.”

Officers have linked the robbery with an incident on King Street, also in Ellesmere Port, last week when a woman was struck on the side of the head and the robber stole her bag as she fell.

The man is described as white, 5ft 11ins and of slim build with close cropped brown hair. He spoke with a local accent.
