FIFTY extra frontline NHS staff are being employed to improve community health services in Liverpool.
Nearly £2.5m is being invested in the appointments by Liverpool Primary Care Trust (PCT).
Opening hours will be extended at Everton Road Health Centre and the Sir Alfred Jones Memorial Hospital where extra services will be provided.
It will mean the establishment of a prevention, rehabilitation and community care services team, including 15 extra physiotherapists, to help those returning home after hospital.
There will also be 12 more district nurses, 10 practice nurses, eight occupational therapists, and four extra nurses to support the expansion of the PCT Treatment Room Service, where proceduresare carried out 365 days a year.
Three extra nurses will also be employed to support the vaccination and immunisation service.
Derek Campbell, Chief Executive of Liverpool PCT said: “Additional resources will be found later in this financial year to recruit more healthcare professionals to enable community-based services to expand.”
