Seized in crackdown

ALMOST 140 bottles of vodka, wine and lager were seized from youngsters during a crackdown in Huyton.

The operation last weekend followed concerns raised by the community after an arson attack in Court Hey Park, Huyton, which officers believe was youth and alcohol- related.

Two off-licences were also caught selling alcohol to an undercover 16-year-old.

Shop assistants at Bargain Booze, Rimmer Avenue, and Drinks Cabin, Swanside Parade, were issued with an £80 fixed penalty notice.

Neighbourhood inspector Lee Schofield said: “A programme has been put together with trading standards to target the sale of alcohol to under-18s.”
