THE man who helped design Lady Diana’s wedding dress made an appearance at a Wirral clothing store to celebrate the launch of his autumn/winter collection.

David Emanuel is touring the country over the next three weeks to introduce his range to staff and customers of Bonmarché.

He said at the chain’s Birkenhead store yesterday: “I’m so proud of this first collection and really pleased to add my designer touch to the Bonmarché collection. I’m looking forward to the tour and bringing my clothes to all ladies across the UK, as well as spending time in the stores meeting staff and shoppers.”

A graduate from the Royal College of Art, he has designed clothes for members of the British and European royal families and some of the world’s most glamorous women.

These include HRH The Duchess of Kent, Lesley Garrett, Jane Seymour, Joan Collins, Faye Dunaway, Ivana Trump, Patsy Kensit,ŠMadonna and Elizabeth Taylor.

But his most famous commission was to co-design the wedding dress for Lady Diana Spencer – as she was then – for her marriage to Prince Charles.

David Emanuel established his own label in 1990 and is now making his signature style for high street customers.
