BULLDOZERS have moved in to demolish a former leisure centre to make room for Liver-pool FC’s new stadium.
The Vernon Sangster sports centre closed earlier this year because its site is required for the new Liverpool ground in Stanley Park.
The building, home to sports clubs and coaching sessions for more than three decades, was torn down at the weekend.
Its staff moved to Anfield youth club and helped form Anfield Sport and Community Centre (ASCC).
The ASCC will keep operating once the new Anfield is built, but a replacement for the Vernon Sangster will also open within the new stadium, with sports, recreation and education facilities.
