Woman and boy leap from burning building

A WOMAN and a four-year-old boy leapt from the second floor window of a burning house to escape the blaze.

The fire started in the hall of the terraced house in Cowper Street, Bootle, at 10pm yesterday.

Both are now recovering in hospital.

The boy was not injured but the 22-year-old woman suffered multiple leg injuries.

They jumped before fire crews arrived.

Almost two thirds of the house has been severely damaged in the blaze, the fire service said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by police and officers are expected to visit the scene later.
