Youths steal MP3 player in assault

AN 18-YEAR-OLD youth was left with a fractured elbow and a cut to his face after being robbed and beaten up for his digital music player.

The victim was walking along Cross Street, Widnes, when he was accosted by a group of eight youths who were standing at the rear of the Shoe Market store.

One reached into the victim’s pocket and took his MP3 music player.

He then demanded the victim give him money for its return.

When he refused the youth, believed to be aged around 17, punched him in the face – cutting him just above the eyebrow.

Cheshire Police said the victim then described how the rest of the gang then began beating him and he was thrown to the floor, opposite a JJB store and a gym, on Saturday afternoon.

As he lay on the floor the youths searched through his pockets and a number of other personal items were taken.

The main attacker is described as being 5ft 10ins tall, slim, with a slim face and was clean shaven.

He was wearing a cap and a blue track suit.

Last night a police spokesman condemned what he described as a “serious and un-provoked assault.”
