Airport intruder in court

A MAN who broke onto the runway at Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport and boarded a plane has been conditionally discharged for two years by magistrates.

Waldemar Rejowski, 47, of no fixed abode, was charged under the Aviation Security Act, for breaching security and boarding the Thomsonfly plane about to take off for Spain.

Mr Rejowski was arrested on the plane at 6am on Saturday after walking through airfield control point barriers and appeared before Liverpool Magistrates on Monday.

An internal investigation is currently underway at the airport to establish what went wrong.

But airport spokesman Robin Tudor said that, while the Department of Transport had been informed, they were satisfied with security measures and will not be launching an inquiry.
