Police action day nets air gun, fireworks and two arrests

AN AIR weapon and industrial fireworks were among a haul seized during a day of action by police in Croxteth and Norris Green.

Two people were arrested as a result of the operation, carried out in partnership with the Benefits Agency, Manweb, truancy officers and the Department of Work and Pensions as part of the Merseyside Police’s force-wide total war on crime.

Raids were carried out by officers who executed search warrants in Dencourt Road and Asser Road.

Together police and their partners visited 117 addresses in these roads.

Neighbourhood Chief Inspector Bill McWilliam said a great deal of work had already been done by police officers in the area to tackle these issues, including the issuing of Anti-Social Behaviour Contracts and Anti-Social Behaviour Orders, carrying out stop checks, and the execution of drugs warrants.

He said: “This operation sends out a very clear message that we will use all powers available to us to target individuals and premises involved in anti-social and criminal behaviour to improve the quality of life for local people.”
