School expansion set to go ahead

THE biggest-ever expansion of Liverpool’s Belvedere School in Princes Park is being earmarked for the go-ahead next week.

A multi-million pound extension to the 436-pupil school, to enable it to cater for 810 students, is being recommended for approval at Tuesday’s meeting of the council’s planning committee.

The school, which was set up as a fee-paying establishment, converted to an academy last month.

To accommodate the number of girls who will be attend- ing, Belvedere wants to build a three-storey exten- sion, as well as an assembly hall plus other extensions.
