Warning over bogus salesmen

BOGUS salesmen have been ripping off people in Cheshire who think they are getting a good deal on desirable electrical goods.

Cheshire Trading Standards department has received several complaints from householders who have received leaflets offering XBoxes, PlayStation 2s, televisions, laptops, kitchen appliances and other items on a pay-weekly basis.

Anyone who enquires is persuaded to pay a deposit, but this is the last they see of their money.

So far, homes in the Macclesfield area have been targeted, and Trading Standards warn they may try other areas.

Council community and communications executive member Nora Dolphin said: “We would urge anyone who has information about this scam to contact Trading Standards or Consumer Direct.”
