Key to the Universe is revealed by Hawking and his daughter
AUTHOR Lucy Hawk-ing yesterday visited Merseyside attraction Spaceport to launch the children’s book she has co-written with her famous scientist father, Stephen.
A group of Wirral schoolchildren were read extracts from George’s Secret Key To The Universe before a question-and-answer session with Ms Hawking.
The northern launch event took place at, the space-themed attraction at Seacombe Ferry Terminal in Wallasey.
Ms Hawking, who has written two adult novels, wrote the book with her father to make the complexities of space more accessible.
For Professor Hawking, who teaches mathematics and physics at Cambridge University and penned the million-selling A Brief History of Time, this is his first ever foray into children’s literature.
Ms Hawking met a group of children from New Brighton Primary School to launch the book, which tells the story of a boy’s computer-driven adventures through space.
Neil Scales, chief executive and director general of Mersey-travel which operates Spaceport, said: “We are delighted to welcome Lucy to Spaceport.
“We are always looking for ways to get children enthused and excited about space and who better than the Hawking family to do that!”
