Breast cancer victims invited to ‘get in the pink’ for £1m charity challenge

WOMEN and men affected by breast cancer were encouraged last night to join Liverpool’s 2008 Field of Women event, which hopes to raise £1m for research at the city’s Linda McCartney Centre.

A launch event was held at LIPA to raise support and get as many people as possible from all over the country, to enrol in the fundraiser.

The Field of Women will take place in July 2008 at Liverpool Cricket Ground, where 10,000 people will play their part in forming a giant pink silhouette in the shape of a woman, by standing shoulder-to-shoulder wearing pink ponchos, representing over a quarter of the women diagnosed each year.

A similar event in Sydney, where 13,000 people gathered at Telstra Stadium in August, proved a huge success. Contact www.fieldofwomen.org or call 0151 706 3172.
