MERSEYSIDE Police’s area commander in Wirral, Colin Matthews, has moved on after 18 months in the job.
Chief Supt Matthews has now passed the Police National Assessment Centre and is headed for the Senior Commanders Course.
Once this is com- pleted, he is eligible to apply for Assistant Chief Constable posts.
Standing in for him is Acting Chief Superintendent Graham Yip who praised his predecessor.
He said: “Colin Matthews was an outstanding Area Commander, who has set a very high precedent for others to follow.
“I will be Acting Chief Superintendent for the Wirral for the foreseeable future, and am very much looking forward to the challenge.”
