Liverpool Culture Company boss quits

Chris Green from Liverpool Culture Company has resigned

LIVERPOOL’S Capital of Culture was today rocked by another top resignation.

Chris Green, operations’ director of the Culture Company, is leaving to take up a senior job in the private sector.

Mr Green, said he had made “a very difficult decision” to quit the 08 team.

He added: “The offer I have received is time limited and I have decided to take the plunge into something new.”

Mr Green, ranked fourth in seniority at Capital of Culture, is the third top executive to resign.

Kevin Johnson left as chief operating officer in April 2004 after only two months in the job.

Robyn Archer, the controversial former artistic director, quit in July 2006.

Mr Green’s departure comes days before the publication of the city council report into the much criticised cancellation of this year’s Mathew Street Festival.

But the Culture Company denied there was any connection.

Lee Forde, the event organiser, has already left the 2008 team.

Copies of the Mathew Street report overseen by city chief executive Colin Hilton have been vetted by the council legal department for approval. It was being shown to political leaders later today.
