Band hit by equipment theft vow: The show goes on

THE show must go on for former bandmates of the heavy metal band Hawkwind who are due to play in Wirral this week.

Band members, who worked with Motorhead front man Lemmy, had their gear stolen from the tour bus outside a hotel in North London at the weekend.

As well as band equipment and instruments, all their clothes were taken, as well as merchandise, including distinctive items such as a dinosaur head, frogman mask and dancers costumes.

But Nik Turner’s band Space Ritual say they will still make it to their gig at Birkenhead’s rock venue, The Hotel California.

Turner, a founding member of the 1970s rock band Hawkwind, which for a time featured Lemmy who went on to form Motorhead, promised that they would still be playing in Wirral tomorrow night.

Following the thefts, Turner and his band appealed to “any kind guys out there in the business that can possibly offer sponsorship/ endorsements for new equipment” to get in touch. Among the other gear stolen were Peavey and Mesa Boogie amps, a Paul Reid Smith and Haver guitar, flight cases with Space Ritual on them, and a customised audio generator machine.
