Robbery is foiled

STAFF in a Wirral post office hid under the counter and pressed the alarm buttons after a man walked in with a gun and demanded money.

Police appealed for witnesses after the attempted armed robbery at the post office on King Street in Wallasey.

The thief left empty-handed as quick-thinking staff hid and activated the security alarm to call for help.

The raid took place at 4.30pm on Tuesday, and the robber left with out any money on a push bike and rode off in the direction of Wallasey Town Hall.

The man was white, six foot tall and was wearing a dark blue or grey hooded top, a baseball cap and dark sunglasses.

Anyone who can help police with their inquiries should call Wirral CID on 709 6010 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
