Mum of 4 in Liverpool shooting terror

The scene of the shooting at a house on Edinburgh Drive, Huyton

A WOMAN was hit by a bullet after gunmen sprayed shots at her Merseyside home.

The 33-year-old, believed to be a mother-of-four, was grazed on the side by the bullet as she got ready to go to bed.

Her children, thought to be between five and 15, were said to be asleep in the house at the time.

Today neighbours in Edinburgh Drive, Huyton, said they believed the family was mistakenly targeted by the gunmen at 12.30am.

One man said: “They are a good family and not involved in anything bad that would bring something like this to their door. It’s horrendous.

“The mum was hit and thank God she wasn’t hurt badly, but it could have been one of the kids.

“The bullets ricocheted everywhere.

“We could have been looking at another innocent child killed by animals who use guns.”

Police were today hunting two men spotted running away in the direction of Manor Farm Way.

Forensics scientists and ballistic experts were at the scene early today removing the bullets for examination.

Detectives were also carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the road which was still sealed off.

The woman was treated at Whiston hospital but later allowed home.

Witnesses are asked to call Merseyside police’s gun crime hotline on 0800 458 1211 or Crime stoppers on 0800 555 111.
