WWE heads for Liverpool

WWE wrestling comes to Liverpool

THE world’s top wrestlers are on their way to Liverpool, with the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) announcing a date in next April.

It is the first time fans in the city have had the chance to see the superstar wrestlers in Liverpool.

Those so far scheduled to appear at the RAW Wrestlemania Revenge event include WWE champion Randy Orton, intercontinental champion Jeff Hardy, Triple H, Mr Kennedy, Umaga, women’s champion Beth Phoenix, Paul London and Brian Kendrick.

The final line-up is subject to change.

They will take to the wrestling ring at the arena on Friday April 11 at the start of a 10-day tour of the UK which includes Cardiff, Nottingham, Birmingham, Glasgow and London.

ACC Liverpool Arena sales manager Paul Ashton said: “WWE is a fantastic event and it’s brilliant they’ve decided to come to Liverpool in 2008. The show is great family entertainment and the Echo Arena is the perfect venue to encapsulate the excitement and passion of WWE fans.

“We expect demand for tickets to be high as it’s the only date in the north west.”

Pete Wilson, from 3A Entertainment, the WWE UK promoters, said: “We’re delighted to be able to bring the WWE Wrestlemania Revenge Tour RAW to the people of Liverpool.

“Fans are sure to experience some electrifying displays from the world leaders in sports entertainment.

“The very first tour date is the Echo Arena.”

More than 15m people tune in to watch WWE in the US every week. while the wrestling phenomenon is also broadcast in more than 20 languages to 130 nations worldwide.

Around 2m fans flocked to 346 WWE live events last year, including 61 international events.
