Tracy Beaker author and comedian Murray sign in for their fans

CHILDREN’S author Jacqueline Wilson and Pub Landlord comedian Al Murray were in the region yesterday, signing their books for hundreds of fans.

Multi award-winner Wilson, who is one of the best-selling authors in the country thanks to her dozens of titles for girls including Vicky Angel, Double Act and The Story of Tracey Beaker – which have sold 20m copies – appeared at the Cheshire Oaks branch of Borders yesterday where she spent time meeting admirers. Al Murray attracted a different type of reader as he promoted his new book, The British Landlord’s Book of Common Sense, at Waterstones on Bold Street in Liverpool city centre.

The character comic, who went mainstream thanks to an appearance on Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen, joked with fans and posed for pictures ahead of a tour date. He returns for a charity show with friends at the Royal Court on December 1.
