Car park attacker ‘danger to women’

A WOMAN was attacked in Neston town centre during the early hours of the morning by a man wearing a balaclava.

Police have said the man is a “danger to women” and must be caught as soon as possible.

The attack happened between 12.15am and 12.45am yesterday as the 45-year-old victim was walking across the car park between Brooke Street and Raby Road.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said the woman was approached from behind by the man, who is described as being of big build and around 5ft 4ins tall, and wearing a balaclava with just his eyes and mouth showing.

He grabbed her shoulder but she fought him off, hitting him so he released his grip and she could escape.

The man was also said to be wearing a dark fleece which had a “distinctive musty smell”.

DC Jane Scothern, from Blacon Specialist Investigation Unit, said: “This man needs to be caught before he commits any further offences, as he is a potential risk to women.”

She appealed for any witnesses with information about the attacker to contact her on 01244 616053, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
