City’s football stars unite in fight against vandalism on the buses

LIVERPOOL and Everton football stars old and new are helping fight vandalism on Merseyside’s bus network.

The Toffees’ Andy Johnson and Reds skipper Steven Gerrard both feature in a series of posters on the city’s buses and bus stops in the anti-vandalism campaign.

Liverpool’s two-time European Cup winner Alan Kennedy and former Everton captain and European Cup Winners’ Cup winner Kevin Ratcliffe helped launch the campaign in Prenton, Wirral.

Backed by bus company Stagecoach the scheme aims to highlight the consequences of damaging buses in the city.

Tom Wileman, regional director for Stagecoach, said: “We want the perpetrators to know that their behaviour makes the local environment an unpleasant place to live and work.”

Approximately £2m was spent last year repairing damaged buses and bus shelters.
