POLICE have released the first image of a 56-year-old man who was found shot dead at his home near Liverpool city centre.

The body of Thomas Grundy was found lying in a bedroom in Maritime Place with a number of bullet wounds at 11pm on Wednesday.

Officers said they believed the killing was targeted.

Neighbours said the victim, who worked as a security guard, lived at the address with his partner and at least one son.

Police have arrested three people, a man, 21, from Islington, a 27-year-old man from Old Swan and a man, 34, from Wavertree, all on suspicion of murder.

A post-mortem examination was conducted yesterday, while house-to-house inquiries have taken place.
