ONE of the “best-ever” reports for a Liverpool secondary school has been announced by Ofsted.
Alsop High School, in Walton, is among the top 3% in the country when its context – including high numbers of pupils from deprived areas – is considered.
Inspectors deemed Alsop an outstanding school and praised the behaviour of pupils. They also commented on the personal development of pupils as ‘outstanding.’
Head teacher Phil Jamieson said: "Obvious- ly we are delighted with the report and it is a cred- it to everyone concerned with the school – the students, the staff (both teaching and non-teach- ing), the parents and governors. We shall now try to continue to main- tain these high standards and make even more progress in the future."
Cllrr Marilyn Fielding, Liverpool’s executive member for housing and neighbourhoods and chair of governors at Alsop, said: “What a brilliant report – it is testament to what can be achieved by hard working staff and pupils with strong support from the local education authority.
“We should be shouting about this from the rooftops because it is a fantastic school, with tremendously successful pupils.”
Stuart Smith, Liver- pool’s executive director for Children’s Services, said: “It clearly demon- strates that the extra resources we are committing to education is paying dividends.”
