Law chief ‘bailed’ in fundraiser

A CHESTER law firm found an unusual method of raising money for charity – by arresting their boss.

Colleagues at Oliver & Co performed the stunt to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.

David Owen, a partner in the firm, was cautioned and handcuffed at work, while a town crier ensured maximum attention.

He was arrested on grounds of committing “crimes against fashion and dancing.”

From the office, based in Booth Mansion, Watergate Street, Mr Owen was led away to present his plea in the presence of the Mayor of Chester.

The £500 “bail” raised ensured that cash from the event went towards £3m needed every year to help fund research and care projects.
