Toddler’s death still a mystery

Tilbury Place, Runcorn

A POST-MORTEM into the death of a two-year-old boy at his Runcorn home was unable to find a cause of death.

Police investigations are on-going into the death of the toddler – named locally as Joshua Jones – whose body was found by ambulance crews at his home on Tilbury Place, Murdishaw, at 10.30pm on Tuesday night.

Two people arrested on suspicion of his murder were released on police bail yesterday, and have been told to return to a police station in Runcorn, on January 8 next year.

The pair – a 22-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man – were arrested on the evening of Joshua’s death.

Police had been granted an extension to question them until yesterday afternoon.

On Wednesday, neighbours named the child’s mother as Nichola Bowman, who lived with her partner, named only as “Wayne”.

Joshua’s father, Jason Jones, 25, who lives nearby, did not want to comment.

Witnesses told how the little boy’s body was carried from the end-of-terrace house in the Murdishaw area by a paramedic.

Residents also reported people running from the house shouting that the boy had stopped breathing.

One neighbour who lives close to the boy’s house described him as “a lovely little boy with chestnut red hair and brown eyes”.
