Drivers warned of major road closure

A MAJOR link road in Wirral is to be closed tomorrow for emergency repairs.

The A5139 Docks Link (North), Wallasey will be closed from 7am to 5pm.

Consultation has been carried out for this emergency closure with the Highways Agency, Mersey Tunnels and Merseyside police.

The road will be closed from its junction with junction 1 on the M53 to its junction with A5088 Poulton Bridge Road.

The alternative route is via the A554 Bidston Link Road, A553 Hoylake Road, A5088 Stanley Road, A5088 Wallasey Bridge Road, A5088 Poulton Bridge Road and vice versa.

Traffic can gain access to the Toyota garage and industrial units from the roundabout at the end of the A5139 Docks Link Road and on to the closed section of dual carriageway. This will be clearly signed.

A spokeswoman for Wirral council said: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and we will endeavour to keep any disruption to a minimum.”
